The competency cluster includes a foodstuffs industry test plant, product development unit
and a foodstuffs laboratory. The Visitor Center provides a landmark for Food Park and contains
permanent foodstuffs industry exhibition space, as well as restaurant and sales shop services.
Also involved in development activities are the foodstuffs industry’s leading equipment and machine
manufacturers, as well as logistics experts, all working in close cooperation with one another.
Due to our location in the southern region of Southern Ostrobothnia, in the middle of a strong primary
production area, Kauhajoki is a natural location for a foodstuffs industry competency cluster.
More than 50 000 persons reside in its natural employment area. Kauhajoki is also the host of the foodstuff
industry’s largest yearly exhibition, the Kauhajoki Food Fair. During the first weekend in September the best of small
and mid-sized foodstuffs enterprises meet here to introduce themselves and their products to thousands of fair visitors.
